Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has arrived in Addu and Fuvahmulah cities to evaluate the challenges faced by islands in developing local tourism.
Mohamed Has’san, the ministry’s director, said Minister Waheed travelled to Addu on the 10th and discussed the local tourism sector with the city council.
During the discussion, Minister Waheed told the council noted that a system can be developed so that the council is notified of any incoming safari yachts and other similar vessels.
On Friday, Minister Waheed observed Addu’s nature park, discussed the development of eco-tourism, and met members of the tourism sector in Hulhumeedhoo.
Minister Waheed then travelled to Fuvahmulah and met with its city council to discuss the government’s decision to promote specific destinations in the Maldives as part of their tourism marketing.
During his trip, Minister Waheed is being accompanied by members of the Tourism Ministry, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation, and Maldives Intergrated Tourism Development Corporation.
