The national airline, Maldivian, has announced that it will now be selling domestic flight tickets at the price bands provided by the government.
The airline’s public relations manager, Moosa Waseem on Thursday told the press that the price at which tickets are currently being sold is the ‘lowest possible at this time’.
Waseem said that the airline is also working to develop their services and ‘overall flying experience’, and says that the airline’s ticket sales have increased.
Price bands announced by the ministry, from and to Velanaa International Airport:
- VIA to Hanimaadhoo Airport: MVR 1,610 to MVR 2,226
- VIA to Ifuru Domestic Airport: MVR 1,500 to MVR 2,056
- VIA to Dharavadhoo Airport: MVR 1,098 to MVR 1,562
- VIA to Kudahuvadhoo Airport: MVR 1,500 to MVR 2,056
- VIA to Thimarafushi Airport: MVR 1,610 to MVR 2,226
- VIA to Kadhdhoo Airport: MVR 1,610 to MVR 2,226
- VIA to Kooddoo Airport: MVR 1,652 to MVR 2,442
- VIA to Kaadedhoo Airport: MVR 1,652 to MVR 2,442
- VIA to Fuvahmulah: MVR 1,698 to MVR 2,598
- VIA to Ifuru Domestic Airport: MVR 1,698 to MVR 2,666
There have been some ‘disappointment’ expressed on social media over the prices, which people say are not much different from the prices previously charged by airlines.
