Male’ City Council has announced that workshops will be held for crewmen that dock at the capital city’s harbor.
Mayor Shifa Mohamed said this while speaking to RaajjeMV on Saturday at the harbor cleanup programme, which was held to celebrate the Coast Guard’s 39th anniversary.
The Mayor said the council will be hosting the workshop with Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), which is in charge of the Male’ harbor.
Highlighting that most Maldivians live in Male’, Mayor Shifa said it was important to keep the city clean, especially the sea and harbor, since the accumulation of waste is a significant health risk.
She also said that keeping the sea and harbor clean is also important for the tourism industry, since tourists tend to visit the harbor.
She added that the purpose of the workshop is to increase the crewmen’s awareness on the dangers of dumping waste at the harbor.
