Three Maldivians, who are reportedly part of a Hong Kong drug running operation, have been arrested in the southwestern city of Kochi, India.

A New Delhi-based news website reported that the three men were arrested along with an Indian national; officers found 1.5 liters of hash oil and over USD 646,000 on their person.

The Indian Express reported that the Maldivians are named; Azim Habeeb, Mohamed Safoof, Shifan Ibrahim.

The Kochi police told the Indian Express that their officers had trailed the suspects, and ultimately apprehending them inside a car park.

Indian authorities reported that all three Maldivians were on a tourist visa and that their passports revealed frequent travel between Thailand, Singapore, and India.

Large amounts of hashish and cannabis extracts are imported into the Maldives through India.
