The government will continue to uphold the wishes of the people and will work to fulfill their hopes, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said.
President Solih said this in a new year’s message on Monday, where he also said that 2019 will be a year of change and one where Maldives’ constitutional democracy is redefined.
In this regard, Solih said that Maldivians take an active role in democracy and governance, and that high participation in last year’ presidential elections was proof of this.
A very happy new year to everyone. In 2019, let us strengthen our resolve to build a more just and prosperous Maldives through kindness, hard work and the freedom and equality of all. May Almighty Allah bestow His blessings on us and may the year bring peace & progress for all.
