The Maldives National Defence Force’s (MNDF) coast guard operations have assisted a vessel that took on water while travelling from Raa atoll to Thilafushi island in Kaafu atoll.

The vessel left Maravandhoo island on Sunday night and reported the leakage at 22:24, when it was 17 miles west of Akirifushi island in Kaafu atoll.

The distance between Akirifushi and its detitanation Thilafushi is about 26 nautical miles, and the vessel managed to reach the island by early Monday morning.

MNDF said that the vessel took on water due to a bolt coming loose.
