The Civil Court of the Maldives has ordered that former Superintendent of Prisons Mohamed Asif be reinstated.
The state had earlier this week agreed to compensate Asif for salaries he had lost during the time he was kept out of employment.
Asif was removed from his position during the tenure of former president Abdulla Yameen, after having been first kept in suspension.
Asif filed a case with the court seeking damages and claiming that his dismissal was unlawful and in violation of disciplinary procedure and the Maldives Correctional Services’ employment code.
The Civil Court found that Asif was dismissed without an investigation of the service’s disciplinary board.
