Former President Mohamed Nasheed, and leader of the Maldivian Democratic Party, has met with the Malé City Council.
Nasheed met with members of the council on Wednesday, and discussed ways in which to address several issues in capital city Malé.
Details of the council’s meeting with Nasheed, who is also running for a Malé City constituency in the upcoming parliamentary elections, have not been revealed.
Malé Mayor Shifa Mohamed and Deputy Mayor Shamaau Shareef had participated in the meeting. The newly appointed cabinet had in November passed to give authority to city, atoll, and island councils that was withheld by the previous government.
