The Maldivian Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has announced plans to draft a law on renting living and work spaces in capital city Malé.
The ministry has yet to publicize much details but on Wednesday announced for a party to draft the law.
Tertiary services in the Maldives are highly centralized to the capital city, one of the most congested places in the world, and its administrative divisions, and rent in these areas are disproportionate to the national average income.
Guaranteeing shelter to all Maldivian citizens is one of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s campaign pledges.
