Jinah was sacked in January 2013

Civil Court has on Sunday ordered the reinstatement of former Head of Police Drug Enforcement Department Mohamed Jinah.

Jinah was dismissed from his position on the 10th of January 2013.

Sunday’s court ruling orders the Maldives Police Service to reinstate Jinah to his original post, as well as to compensate his salary and allowances in the duration from his dismissal to the date the court order was issued.

As such, authorities are to reinstate Jinah with allowances totaling MVR 2.8 million.

The court order comes after authorities agreed to follow the procedure during the dispute Resolution stage during which the state had admitted that Jinah’s dismissal was illegal.

The court order comes among various other reinstatements. As such, Acting Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed, Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdulla Fairoosh and Superintendent of Police Mohamed Riyaz have been reinstated upon the inauguration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration.
