62 households damaged in the recent flooding of capital city Malé, caused by heavy rain, have been given relief funds, the National Disaster Management Center (NDMC) has said.
NDMC Project Director Hisan Hassan said that the damages cost households MVR 1.3 million. Said funds were distributed last week.
The NDMC received claims for damages from a total of 210 houses. After assessment, the center decided to compensate 127 of them.
The NDMC will begin distributing funds at 9:00am on Sunday.
The capital city and islands around it experienced 223.5 millimeters of rain on Wednesday, December 5th; a record amount.
