Opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has said that its members will come out and topple the government if it is not held accountable.
Activists heavily criticized the government coalition at a protest outside the PPM office in Male’ on Friday night.
Many of the activists who spoke at the protest accused the government of trying to sell the country and threatened to gather outside the president’s official residence if former President and PPM leader Abdulla Yameen is ever arrested.
However, they also praised Qasim Ibrahim, a leader of the government coalition, and warned members of ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) not to treat him badly.
While PPM protests are to take place every night outside the party office Friday’s gathering did not even attract 50 members.
