President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called on Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

The meeting was held at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi behind closed doors and the press had not been allowed in.

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid had visited India in November and met with Swaraj as well. Shahid said after the meeting that renewed cooperation between countries have begun.

President Solih has entered into the visa agreement and signed a loan agreement with the Indian government.

While the visa agreement provides unprecedented leniency in allowing visas to India, funds from the loan are to be used to supplement this year’s state budget.

President Solih left on December 16th and is to conclude the visit on December 18th.
