President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Monday met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

The pair is to meet and discuss bilateral relations between countries, and have greeted each other at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi, India.

The meeting is held behind closed-doors and the press have not been allowed in. 

Prime Minister Modi was the only current head-of-state at President Solih's inaugration on 17th November. They had met at the President's Office in capital city Malé after the inaugral ceremony. 

Solih and Modi agreed on the importance of maintaining stability in the Indian Ocean and to work together in this regard. 

In the November meeting, Modi assured Solih of India’s firm commitment in assisting the Maldives to achieve sustainable social and economic development and had invited the Maldivian president to make his visit.
