President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has visited Raj Ghat, the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Indian independence movement.
Solih visited and paid his respects to Gandhi on Monday, after having recieved a 21-gun salute welcome at the Raj Bhavan, New Delhi.

“I am honoured and humbled for the opportunity to pay my respects to Mahatma Gandhi at this sacred site today. Over the years after Gandhi gi’s death, his classical principles of ‘Ahimsa’, ‘Satyagraha’, and Swaraj continue to resonate across the world. May his great legacy continue to guide us as we continue to become more just, compassionate and humanitarian societies”, the note says.
Solih is to enter into a number of agreements with India during this visit; the president will also call on External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and other senior officials of the Indian government.
President Solih left on December 16th and is to conclude the visit on December 18th.
