Maldivians are proud of the military’s conduct during September’s presidential elections, says recently appointed chief Major General Abdulla Shamaal.
Shamaal said this while speaking to officers of the Maldives National Defence Force, adding that the military contributed greatly to democracy in the country.
“The seamless conditions under which the last previous elections were held is something Maldivians are proud of their security forces for”, Major General Shamaal said.
Shamaal advised officers to maintain discipline and hone their skills so as to best serve the public.
Vice Chief Brigadier General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef, general officers, senior officers, and officers of other ranks had also participated in the event held to orient Shamaal as the new Chief of Defence Force.
