Hassan Shah has been appointed to the post of Managing Director of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday.

President of the Privatization and Corporatization Board revealed the appointment via twitter.

The post of Managing Director at MTCC was held by Ibrahim Ziyath during former President Yameen’s administration. Shah’s appointment comes after President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih dismissed Ziyath from his post after assuming office in November.

Shah, who is also a council member of Jumhooree Party (JP), had previously served as Secretary General in Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) as well as JP. He also served in government posts during the administrations of former Presidents Abdulla Yameen and Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik.

During Dr. Waheed’s short term in office, Shah served as Chairman to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and as a Minister of State at the Ministry of Environment and Energy during Yameen’s five-year tenure.
