Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology has gone into discussion with internet service providers, to slash prices for internet access across the nation.
Minister of Communication. Science and Technology, Mohamed Maleeh Jamal stated that this is the first task being carried out since he assumed office in November.
Local internet providers Ooredoo Maldives, Dhiraagu as well as the Communication Authority of the Maldives joined the discussions held by the Minister to bring desirable changes to pricing internet services.
Following these discussions, Minister Maleeh assured that expectations of bringing said changes to the price range of internet provision, are high.
“We will prioritize internet provision to the citizens at a swift speed and at affordable prices” assured the Minister.
Highlighting that Maldivians depend heavily on internet service as it is one of the most important ways of communication, Maleeh stated that providing them at affordable prices and a swift speed will bring major progress to the economy of the country.
Stressing that communication services in Maldives are expensive compared to other regional nations, Maleeh assured that they are working with the government to bring a necessary solution to the rising concerns amid business owners and youth.
