President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Thursday appointed five state ministers.
President Solih, freshly sworn-in on the 17th of November, made all five appointments under the powers granted to him under article 115 (f) of the constitution, which states that the President may have the power to appoint, dismiss and accept the resignation of members of the Cabinet.
All five Ministers of State were handed their letters of appointment at a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Thursday afternoon.
The ministers appointed today are:
- Mohamed Iyad Hameed as Minister of State for Economic Development
- Hassan Rasheed as Minister of State for Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture
- Sheikh Ilyas Jamal as Minister of State for Islamic Affairs
- Aishath Rasheed as Minister of State for Gender, Family and Social Services
- Ahmed Mujthaba as Minister of State for Environment.
