Parliamentarians aligned with the Progressive Party of Maldives may receive tickets for upcoming People’s Majlis elections without a primary election, MP Ahmed Nihan has said.
MP Nihan, the Vilimalé constituency representative who also serves as head of the party’s parliamentary group, said this in a tweet on Tuesday.

While Nihan announced this, several parliamentarians elected through the party in the 2014 elections have this week signed on to the Maldivian Democratic Party and Jumhooree Party.
The Elections Commission has said that the People’s Majlis ballots are to be held in March, next year.
