Mustafa had released the car from Customs after registering it to him
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating former chief of staff at the president’s official residence, Ahmed Mustafa Mohamed, for registering a car gifted to the state by Saudi Arabia, to him.
An ACC official told RaajjeMV that they began the investigation last week.
RaajjeMV understands that ACC has received documents related to the case from Customs.
Saudi Arabia gifted the bullet-proof Mercedes-Benz S600 to the Maldives government in August, to be used by the country's head of state.
Mustafa had released the car from Customs after registering it to him. After the issue became public last week, he has attempted to change the car’s registration to the president’s official residence.
