Maumoon left to Malaysia on 23rd September for medical purposes after the Supreme Court issued a stay order on his jail sentence.
While in incarceration, doctors diagnosed the former president with a form of vertigo that made him prone to collapses.
Despite being asked to seek treatment abroad, correctional officers refused to grant it. Maumoon was given treatment in incarceration.
Maumoon was arrested alongside two Supreme Court justices for allegedly orchestrating a conspiracy to oust President Abdulla Yameen, his half-brother.
