State spends over MVR 100,000 daily on President’s official residences
According to the state budget, MVR 37.8 million has been spent on President Yameen’s official residences this year
The state has established Muliaage and Hilaaleege as the President’s official residences and has built a three-story house in Aarah island for him to spend his holidays
The state has also spent over MVR 80 million on President Yameen’s office this year

It has been revealed that the state spent over MVR 37 million this year on President Abdulla Yameen’s residences.

According to the state budget, MVR 37.8 million has been spent on President Yameen’s official residences this year, which is MVR 3.1 million per month or MVR 105,000 per day.

The state has established Muliaage and Hilaaleege as the President’s official residences and has built a three-story house in Aarah island for him to spend his holidays.

The money being spent on the President’s official residence is MVR 12 million more than the MVR 25.8 million allocated in the budget.

According to the state budget, MVR 19.6 million from the finance ministry’s special budget was also spent on the residences.

The state has also spent over MVR 80 million on President Yameen’s office this year, which is twice the amount it had spent on his official residences.

Before being elected, Yameen vowed to live in his own home and accept only half of his salary as president. Despite this, he has received a monthly salary of MVR 100,000 and even used state funds to finance some of the construction work at his home earlier in his term.
