A violent storm in Alif Alif Ukulhas island has torn the roof off a petrol shed in the island’s harbor area on Saturday.

Maldives Police Service reports that the incident occurred at 5pm on Saturday and that no injuries were reported. Police officers are evidently active in the area.

A resident from the island revealed that some individuals riding on a motorcycle down the path had stopped by the petrol shed to seek shelter from the rain, however, at the time the storm hit the roof of the shed, they had moved from the area and were safe from any injuries they may have incurred.

Since early November, severe weather conditions with unceasing downpour and violent thunderstorms have been prevailing over different regions of the country with the Maldives Meteorological Service predicting rain showers to prevail in most parts for the next 24 hours, with a possibility of a few thundershowers.
