ADK Trade & Shipping is to tow “Bonthi II” owned by the State Trading Organization Plc, a cargo ship which had been en route to capital city Male’ from neighboring India and gotten stranded near Haa Ali atoll on Tuesday.
ADK Trade revealed this via Twitter on Saturday.
The tweet reads that the company’s tug boat, “Raadhafathi” is on a salvage operation towing “Bonthi II”, which is reportedly carrying 4,000 tons of cargo.
The company reports that the cargo ship will reach Male’ safely by 6pm Saturday.

The incident was reported to the Maldives National Defense Force at around 2pm last Tuesday and a team of divers from MNDF’s Coast Guard were dispatched to the area late Tuesday night. While the team reached the cargo ship by Wednesday morning, the vessel’s crew were reported in good health.
The cargo ship had evidently gotten stranded when its propeller sustained damages after getting caught in a rope. The vessel is stranded 188 nautical miles from Kulhudhuffushi island.
