Maldives Police Service has on Sunday arrested eight individuals in connection to the break-in at Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) last week, where a number of laptops were stolen.

Police revealed that they had arrested three Maldivians and five expatriates in connection to the robbery. They had also recovered the stolen laptops and several other electronic gadgets that they stolen along with them.

RaajjeMV understands that the three Maldivians have been remanded by 10 days and that the five expatriates had been handed over to the Immigration Department, as they had been living in the country illegally.

The stolen laptops evidently had some of the university’s examination papers in its archives. Regarding this issue, the police stated that this should not bring any negative impacts on the validity of the exams.
