Maldives Police Service has arrested a man who was involved in the production of Alcohol in Gan island of Laamu atoll.
According to the police, officers at the police station in Gan island had conducted an operation in the island in order to eliminate narcotics.
Police revealed that they had begun the operation upon receiving an intelligence report that alcohol was being produced in the uninhabited part of the island on the 29th of October, and had subsequently arrested the 22-year-old man.
Upon inspecting the area, officers had found substances suspected to be used in the production of alcohol.
The man was remanded by 10 days when presented for his remand hearing at Laamu Gan Magistrate Court.
The Laamu Gan police station is currently investigating the matter.
