Reports have surfaced that Ibrahim Faisal, son of Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM)’s Deputy Leader Abdul Raheem Abdulla, is indebted to national airline Maldivian.

This comes amid reports of PPM's failure to make payments, amounting to millions, to Island Aviation, operated under Maldivian.

It has been revealed that Faisal had taken tickets for himself and spouse to travel abroad through Maldivian Holidays, a subsidiary company under Maldivian, on the grounds that he will be making the payments afterward. However, RaajjeMV has learnt that the payments for tickets purchase on the 20th of February have still not been made.

Tickets had been issued to Faisal on many separate occasions, as such, he was issued tickets to Colombo, Sri Lanka, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Frankfurt, Germany as well as Kuala Lampur, Malaysia.

According to credible sources, payments for these tickets amount to over MVR 112,000.

It was also revealed that the payment comes with an interest of about MVR 45,000 due to the delay in payment, which was to be made within 15 days of issuance.

RaajjeMV also understands that the Ministry of Tourism also played a role in issuing said tickets to the Faisal, who is currently serving as Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
