Supporters prepare for Nasheed’s arrival on Thursday
MDP has stated that they will prepare a welcoming party with boats from Hulhule' to Male'

Former President Mohamed Nasheed’s supporters have been preparing for his return to Maldives on Thursday.
In a tweet on Monday, Hamid Abdul Ghafoor, the international spokesperson of Nasheed’s Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), said that Nasheed is scripting his arrival speech.
MDP has stated that they will prepare a welcoming party with boats at sea and move on to Artificial Beach, where Nasheed is set to give an address.
MDP’s Anwar Ibrahim said that anyone is welcome to call their hotline and get invited to join the event at sea.
The party has also begun selling T-shirts for the occasion. The shirt has a slogan printed on it with Nasheed’s handwriting.
Nasheed was sentenced in March 2015 after being found guilty of ordering the arrest of a judge during his presidency and has been living in self-exile since receiving political asylum from the United Kingdom during a medical trip in January 2016. Despite this, MDP has stated that he will return as a free man.
