Capital city Male’ has been flooded due to heavy rain on Sunday.
The streets began flooding shortly after torrential rain began pouring at 11am.
The improved anti-flooding system in Ameenee Magu was not enough for the street to remain unaffected.
Even Velana International Airport’s runway became flooded after hours of pouring rain.
The meteorological service issued a yellow alert at 1:50pm over torrential rain in Kaafu atoll and the region between Laamu and Seenu atoll. The alert is in effect until 6pm.
