President-elect and representative of Hinnavaru constituency in Parliament, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, along with Vice President-elect and representative of Kaashidhoo constituency in Parliament, Faisal Naseem will be joining Sunday’s Parliament sitting.
This is the first sitting in which opposition lawmakers will be partaking since being barred from entering Parliament following military lock down on the 24th of July 2017.
Solih has stated that he will be joining Parliament sessions held before his inauguration in November.
This will be first hearing for the third and last sitting of this year, and has been scheduled to commence at 09:00 a.m.
The Parliament will vote on the date to hold President-elect Solih’s oath-taking ceremony.
Other crucial topics tabled for Sunday’s sitting include considering the motion to repeal former President Mohamed Nasheed’s terrorism conviction, considering Vilufushi MP Riyaz Rasheed’s motion to repeal the Anti-Defection Act and North-Henveiru MP Abdulla Shahid’s motion to repeal the Anti-Defamation Act.
