Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. Mohamed Shainee has claimed that he has no reason to leave the country like a “coward”, and that he is proud to be a part of and serve in outgoing President Abdulla Yameen’s team.
Minister Shainee revealed this in a tweet he posted on Twitter on Wednesday, after reports surfaced on social media that he was planning to flee the country. In his tweet Dr. Shainee wrote that he is “satisfied” with the service he has delivered to the people and nation during the past five years.
The minister further wrote that he is proud of what he has achieved.

Reports of Shainee fleeing the country had surfaced after he travelled to neighboring Sri Lanka with his family on Tuesday.
This comes at a time senior government officials, are being heavily accused of funneling hefty amounts of cash out of the country, while the transition process proceeds.
Shainee had played an active role in promoting and defending President Abdulla Yameen’s government in the international community. He was also the government’s representative during its negotiations with the opposition.
