Acting Commissioner of Police, Abdulla Nawaz has been dismissed from his post and transferred to the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

RaajjeMV understands that Nawaz was appointed to the post of a Deputy Minister at the Environment Ministry.

Nawaz, who previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Police, was appointed to the post of Acting Commissioner of Police in early February.

Hamdhoon Rasheed has been appointed as the police commissioner following Nawaz's transfer.

The former ACP’s transfer to a state ministry comes at a time President Abdulla Yameen lost the Presidential Election to opponent Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

While this is not the first time authorities have made such transfers, previously, President Yameen’s government had transferred Hussain Waheed, former Commissioner of Police to the post of State Minister at the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure.
