A captain has been found after he reportedly fell overboard while travelling to capital city Male’ from Safari Island Resort in Mushimasgali island in Alif Alif atoll on Thursday.

An official at the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) reported that Ali Fauzan, 25, native to Bilehfahi island in Shaviyani atoll was found at sea by a speedboat close to 03:00 p.m. on Friday, and that he had been found adrift.

Fauzan was reported missing at around 06:30 p.m. on Thursday. RaajjeMV understands that two expatriates were also onboard at the time Fauzan fell overboard.

Following the missing persons report, MNDF's search continued throughout Friday and divers were also dispatched in the area immediately, with MNDF’s coastguard conducting searches along with an aircraft from Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA).

An MNDF officer reported that Fauzan’s condition is stable and that more details will be shared as they come.
