The opposition coalition parties have pledged to allow face veils at work.
In their joint manifesto, the opposition coalition pledged to draft laws and conduct awareness programmes to eliminate gender and class differences and the biases against beards and face veils.
In the manifesto, the opposition also pledged to reduce assault and other crimes and to establish a peaceful community in their administration by focusing on eliminating the threat of now-prominent gangs.
President Abdulla Yameen’s administration has fired many government employees for wearing the face veil or growing beards.
