Former deputy Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem was summoned to the Department of Judicial Administration for questioning on Thursday.
Shameem, who presented himself to the DJA office in capital Malé City at 11am, spoke to the media after being released from questioning.
Responding to a question by RaajjeMV regarding the reason for the summon, Shameem said that 'the answer lies with the department'.
Noting that 'nothing much happened' during questioning, the former deputy PG said that DJA took his statement afterwards.
While he was not able to clarify the matter, RaajjeMV understands that he was summoned over a tweet sent out via his personal account.
The prominent lawyer has been suspended twice from practicing law, since 2015.
While he was first suspended in November 2015, the suspension was lifted in January 2018. The second suspension was on February 22, and was revoked in July.
He studied law from Egypt's Al-Azhar University, along with current Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi.
