Maumoon Reform Movement (MRM), formed by supporters from Gayoom’s breakaway faction of the ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) has officially formed a website representing their movement, and publicized a manifesto on Sunday.
MRM represents jailed former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom in the Joint Opposition parties.
While MRM on Sunday publicized its manifesto, supporters of the former President had earlier revealed that MRM is not a separate political party, rather a faction of the opposition coalition representing the long-serving statesman.
Gayoom had focused the manifesto on 16 policies. As such, the very first policy revolves around maintaining the religion of Islam in the country, as well as maintaining freedom and sovereignty.
The manifesto further includes a policy that maintains justice, creates a state under a Presidential system, as well as enriching the capital of the youth.
Likewise, main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party and Adhaalath Party also publicized their own manifestos. According to the opposition coalition, they will govern under a manifesto agreed upon by all four parties that comprise the coalition.
