Islamic sovereignty in Maldives should be not questioned: Solih tells President Yameen
President Yameen had severely criticized MDP and Solih during his speech at a recent ruling party event
President Yameen said he should come forward and answer his questions
Solih said that he does not believe that a President should ask questions such as whether there would be any religion other than Islam in the country

Joint Opposition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that there will be no religion but Islam in Maldives and that it was not something that President Abdulla Yameen should have to question.

President Yameen had severely criticized Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Solih during his speech at a recent ruling party event.

Posing several questions at Solih, President Yameen said he should come forward, answer his questions, and vow that what happened during the MDP government would not happen again.

Responding to President Yameen on RaajjeTV’s “Ibu” (Solih’s nickname) show, Solih said that he does not believe that a President should ask such questions.

“For example, asking whether there would be any religion other than Islam, this isn’t something that can even be questioned. I don’t believe that it should even be answered. This country wouldn’t have any religion other than Islam, right? It is something that citizens have believed deep in their hearts since our forefathers. So, it shouldn’t even be questioned.”

Solih also said that citizens are well aware of the workings of the current government and that he will work to focus on solving the various problems in the country.
