Merchants at the market operated to the south west of the ‘Gaakoshi’ premises in capital city Malé have been asked to vacate by the end of this month.
No less than 20 merchants run outlets at the area, who pay a monthly fee to a privately-run company. The property has been leased to this company.
Stall operators pay a fee of MVR 5,000 each and have been trading at the area for about two years. The reason for vacation is yet unclear.
RaajjeMV spoke to some of the merchants, who expressed concern about the short deadline provided to them.
