The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has appealed on the general public to be vary of floating material from a speedboat that collided into the base of a lighthouse in southward of capital city Male’.

According to the MNDF, some of the material onboard the vessel which evidently belongs to privately-run construction group, AIMA Construction Company, are adrift in the area and that travelers in the region are advised to be cautious.

MNDF reported that the collision had occurred at around 07:12 a.m. on Saturday. However, no one had been reported injured in the accident.

Such accidents have been recorded previously on the lighthouse in southward of Male’ as well, with some seafarers claiming that the region is dangerous for travelling during stormy weather as rough seas prevail.
