President Abdulla Yameen’s government will not succeed in using religion as a weapon to manipulate people, says Joint Opposition running mate Faisal Naseem.
Speaking at a campaign event in AA. Thoddoo on Friday night, Faisal said that, while the ruling party talks about religion in the context of the upcoming election, President Abdula Yameen has not spent much on renovating mosques.
Faisal also said that the government of the Joint Opposition will not make Friday sermons political.
He said that the presidential election is linked to people’s future and urged them not to “waste the opportunity on September 23.”
Faisal said that, when looking at Thoddoo’s deteriorated harbor and roads, it was clear that the senior government officials no longer know why they were given their positions.
Numerous Joint Opposition supporters were present at the event held at Thoddoo’s Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) campaign site.
Faisal, who began his trip to Alif Alif atoll on Thursday, first travelled to Himandhoo and then to Maalhos, Feridhoo, and Mathiveri. On Friday, he visited Bodufulhudhoo, Ukulhas, Rasdhoo, and then Thoddoo.
Faisal is set to return to capital Male’ City after Thoddoo’s event.
