Guraidhoo MP Ibrahim Riza has been appointed as the vice president of Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

JSC is tasked with appointing judges, investigating complaints against them, formulating regulations on judges, advising the president and parliament on matters relating to the administration of justice and other matters of the court.

Riza was appointed after a secret vote taken by JSC, which did not reveal the other candidates or the result of the vote.

JSC has been criticized for appointing Riza, who is involved in President Abdulla Yameen’s campaign.
