The Joint Opposition candidate said that he would pay especial attention to listening to the opinions of the people

Faisal Naseem, the Joint Opposition’s vice presidential candidate, has said that he is not interested in ruling from the ‘comfort of his office’ and pledged more involvement with the people.

Faisal, who is also the current parliamentary representative for the Kaashidhoo constituency, said that he would pay especial attention to listening to the opinions of the people.

As such, the candidate said that the Joint Opposition’s unity government will be one that ‘listens’ to its people by seeking their outlook and understanding their points of concern ahead of important decisions.

Faisal made these remarks while speaking at a campaign event in Dhiggaru island of Meemu atoll on Sunday night. In his speech, he said that he would not be involved in a government that brings about ‘selective progress’ and is biased.

In his speech, Faisal also criticized incumbent President Abdulla Yameen’s economic policies. He said that President Yameen has already made deals with foreign countries that are detrimental to the Maldivian economy, and that the country may be ‘enslaved’ if he is elected again.
