Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the opposition presidential candidate, has always respected people with different opinions, says Ali Waheed, the President of Jumhooree Party.

Ali Waheed, who was recently appointed to JP’s leadership, said this in his speech at the party’s 10-year anniversary celebration on Friday night.

While President Abdulla Yameen’s running mate Dr. Mohamed Shaheem has criticized Solih for not having a religious agenda, Ali Waheed in his speech said that they do not use religion as a weapon.

“I want to tell Dr. Shaheem that the coalition’s religious policy is not something that needs to be verified. Our religious policy is the Quran, the Prophet’s teachings, and the advice of scholars. Our religious policy is not something that, as Dr. Shaheem thinks, needs to be verified that it is this way and not that way. We will not use religion as a weapon.”

Ali Waheed also said that a vote given to Solih on election day is a vote given with love.

He added that the success of the opposition coalition is due to the ceaseless work of the four opposition leaders, who are former presidents Mohamed Nasheed and Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim, and Adhaalath Party Imran Abdulla.
