EC to use tablets at polling stations during September ballots
During previous elections, laptops had been used
A bid security fee of MVR 30,000 is required from suppliers of the tablet computers
EC stated it will supply 550 tablets and bidding is to proceed on the 09th August

The Elections Commission has stated that they will be using tablets instead of laptops at polling stations in the September polls.

The commission revealed that they had reached the decision to use tablets during the Presidential Election due to its convenience and price. As such,

EC stated it will supply 550 tablet computers.

During previous elections, laptops had been used to handle the official procedures related to voting within the polling stations. As such laptops had been used in order to make sure voters had been registered, as well as to identify voters.

A bid security fee of MVR 30,000 is required from suppliers of the tablets. EC said that the bid security must be one issued to the company by a trusted bank or financial institution. The bidding will be on the 09th of August.

EC will be placing over 480 ballot boxes in the September polls.
