Elections Commission has requested the help of the police service in confirming the validity of re-registration applications to change the voting locations of citizens for the September 23 presidential election.
EC held a meeting with the police service to discuss their role in the re-registration process.
Police commissioner Abdulla Nawaz and other senior officers joined the meeting with EC president Ahmed Shareef.
EC stated that they have received complaints regarding re-registration fraud but that they guarantee that all applications handed to them will be confirmed for validity. The commission also warned the public to be cautious of such fraud.
Citizens are allowed to re-register their voting locations until August 11.
