Main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has on Sunday submitted a complaint to the Elections Commission regarding the re-registration of resort employees.
In a tweet posted on Monday, MDP’s Secretary General Anas Abdul Sattar said that the commission is “requiring from employees to get their forms stamped by their employer”.
However, he said that the commission is accepting forms collected through the ministries and state-owned enterprises without their stamps.

The commission on Sunday added two more resorts to their list of resorts in which polling stations are to be placed for the upcoming Presidential Election slated for the 23rd of September, totaling the amount to 44.
EC had initially decided to place polling stations in resorts that have over 250 eligible voters, but reduced the requirement to 100 voters mere hours after PPM’s Deputy Leader Abdul Raheem Abdulla called to revoke the decision.
The commission’s initial decision was to place polling stations in just seven resorts which drew criticism from the general public, especially resort workers and the opposition, following which they added more resorts, initially 36, and then 44.
While the small island nation has 132 resorts, polling stations were placed in 40 resorts in the 2013 presidential election.
The commission has decided to place over 470 ballot boxes in different parts of the nation for the September polls.
