Opposition threaten to take action against government officials committing re-registration fraud
'Government officials will not know to whom their employees must cast their votes for'
'It is EC's responsibility to ensure the progression of a transparent, free and fair election'
'The Constitution guarantees re-registration rights to all citizens'

The Joint Opposition has threatened to take action against those working with senior officials of the Civil Service Commission and government companies to commit re-registration fraud.

The opposition coalition parties on Monday stated that those involved in it should take responsibility.

The coalition stated that the citizens hold the right to vote for wherever they want and that the Constitution guarantees re-registration rights to all citizens, which pro-government officials must not work to obstruct.

The coalition went on to say that government officials does not have the right to dictate the location at which their employees must cast their votes.

Although the Elections Commission President Ahmed Shareef has claimed that it is not the responsibility of the commission alone to ensure a free and fair election the opposition coalition has asserted that it is the commission president and all of the commission members' legal responsibility to bring forth a transparent, free and fair election for the citizens.

The opposition further highlighted that they are looking into the matter of Shareef claiming that 27 resorts had refused to place polling stations for the approaching presidential election.
