10 arrested over gang violence in Addu City

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested 10 suspects in connection to a gang violence in Addu City on Sunday.
While two were injured in the attack that took place on Sunday night, they were taken to Hithadhoo Regional Hospital for treatment immediately.
RaajjeMV understands that two individuals traveling in a motorcycle were targeted. While both were stabbed after forcing them to stop, the cycle they were traveling in was torched as well.
Police said that the attack was reported to them at around 9:40pm and that 10 suspects have been brought into custody. However, police did not disclose any further details including of those arrested in connection to the attack.
Police said that it is investigating the attack.
The Addu City attack comes after a series of similar gang violence in capital Malé City's suburban extension Hulhumalé this past weekend. A youth was stabbed in Hulhumalé on Thursday night while a 24-year-old was stabbed seven times on Friday and a 29-year-old was stabbed on Saturday.
