The amendment was proposed by Hoarafushi constituency MP Mohamed Ismail, who is aligned with the pro-government Maldives Development Alliance, and if passed will see said board members removed within 10 days.

There are currently seven board members; Chairman Ibrahim Umar Manik, Manging Director Ibrahim Khaleel, deputy managing director Ikram Abdul Latheef, and board members Noofar Mahmoodh, Aimianth Shayaan Shaheedhaa, Husnuheena Ibrahim Hilmy, and Mohamed Shageel.
